Receptionist/Customer Services Assistant


Post: Receptionist/ Customer Service Assistant

Hours: Part-time 20 hours a week including alternate weekends

Salary: £10.75 per hour

Report to: Admin Officer & CEO

Start Date: March 2020, exact date TBC

Holidays: 22 days per annum pro rata, + bank holiday’s + Board Discretionary holiday over Christmas & New Year

Community Café: On-site cafe with 10% staff discount

Pension: Company Pension Scheme

Sick Pay: Company sick pay scheme (after qualifying period)

The Forum at Greenwich is a registered Charity that operates a fully inclusive and accessible Community Centre based in the heart of Greenwich.

The Charity has recently transformed one of its spaces in to a soft play zone which has been specifically designed for children 5 years and under.

The Soft Play is open Monday-Friday for drop in play sessions and at weekends, if we are not hosting exclusive children’s parties.

The Centre is open 7 days a week, our parties take place at the weekends so we are looking for a job share for 2 people who will work a total of 20 hours over a 7 day period, which will include alternate weekends.

The Role:

This is a new role and the successful post holder/s will work with the on-site Team, including weekend caretakers, cleaners, Admin team and Unity Kitchen catering staff.

The post holder will be expected to interact with parents/carers of the young children using the soft play and ensure parties are overseen, run on-time and as per the customers booking.

You will learn reception duties and our booking process and promote the sale and booking of children’s parties, whilst ensuring the soft play area is used correctly and kept clean and tidy. You will also be expected to promote, discuss and sell our Children’s Party Packages, including additional items such as Bouncy castles, soft play, golf etc. You will also be on-hand to assist with reception duties and support the on-site caretaker if required.

The post holder:

You will be expected to demonstrate good Customer Service and organisational abilities. You will be proactive, confident and able to use your influencing skills to help build up relationships with the local community and promote the use of the soft play both during the week and at weekends as well as exclusive party bookings.

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • An excellent understanding of what makes great Customer Service

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working in a similar customer orientated type of role.
  • A strong desire to promote the Forum soft play and other activities within the centre.
  • Good influencing skills promoting the Forum’s Party Packages
